GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT HALLUX VALGUS

What exactly is a hallux valgus?.
The disease of hallux valgus is also known to many as bunions and is a deformity of the big toe. It may well be that only one foot is affected, but usually this disease occurs on both feet at the same time. Statistically, more women than men are affected by this condition.

The causes of a hallux valgus?
Many people claim that the Hallux Valgus is caused exclusively by wearing: too high, too pointed and too tight shoes. However, this statement is false! It is true that wearing the aforementioned footwear contributes to the development of deformity on the toe and feet, but it is not solely responsible for it. Other factors such as a familial predisposition, an already existing foot deformity such as the splay foot or also various joint diseases contributes to the development of bunions.
